CANCER CORE COMPETENCY WEBINAR

The National Association of Social Workers hosted a C-Change presentation during the NASW Lunchtime Series on November 17, 2009 entitled "Strengthening the Cancer Knowledge and Skills of the Social Work Labor Force," by Maureen Lichtveld, MD, MPH and Alison Smith, BA, BSN, RN. This teleconference described a competency-based strategy to strengthen the knowledge and skills of non-oncology social work students and practicing professionals to expand the cancer workforce.

2010 COMPREHENSIVE CANCER CONTROL LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE

On June 7-10, 2010 in Los Angeles, CA, the National Partners* hosted the Comprehensive Cancer Control Leadership Conference and for the first time, brought together all state, tribe, territory and Pacific Island Jurisdiction Comprehensive Cancer Coalition leaders. On June 9th, Maureen Lichtveld, MD, MPH and Alison Smith, BA, BSN, RN conducted a workshop "Strengthening the Non-Oncology Health Workforce Through a Competency-based Approach," illustrating how the Cancer Core Competency tools can be used to strengthen the knowledge, skills and attitudes of non-oncology health professionals.
